Newborn Hearing Screening
Newborn hearing screening is a test conducted shortly after birth to detect hearing impairments at an early stage. During the test, small sounds are played to a sleeping baby, and the response to these stimuli is analyzed and assessed by a computer. The results can be either 'pass' or 'refer'; 'pass' means 'there are currently no hearing issues,' while 'refer' indicates 'further testing is needed.' Babies who require more detailed examinations are carefully diagnosed by specialists in childhood hearing loss, according to the development of their hearing. This screening allows for the early detection of hearing loss in babies, enabling support to begin at an early stage. Let's actively participate in the screening.
Public Assistance for Newborn Hearing Test Costs
Inagi City provides partial subsidies for the costs of newborn hearing tests conducted at contracted medical institutions within Tokyo.
To receive the subsidy, you need the "Newborn Hearing Screening Examination Ticket." Please use this ticket by around one month after birth.
In addition, if a newborn hearing test is conducted at a medical institution outside the Tokyo area for reasons such as returning to one's hometown, a "Subsidy for Newborn Hearing Test Expenses for Returning Home" will be provided.
Eligibility
Children up to 50 days old whose mother has a Certificate of Residence in Inagi City at the time of examination
Expiration Date

Issuance of Newborn Hearing Screening Examination Tickets
The newborn hearing test examination ticket is issued along with the Maternal and Child Health Handbook at the time of pregnancy notification. If you are moving outside of Tokyo, please contact the municipality at your new location regarding the subsidy system.
