Regarding the revision of school lunch ingredient costs (Distribution document for eligible recipients dated September 26, 2019)

Regarding the cost of school lunch ingredients, after discussions between Inagi City and the Inagi Private Nursery School Directors Association, it has been decided to set the monthly cost of school lunch ingredients at 7,500 yen, which is the guideline provided by the national government, and this has already been communicated to the facilities.
Subsequently, in response to the situation in other cities and requests from Parents or Guardians, the Mayor of Inagi City and the Inagi Private Nursery School Directors' Association held re-discussions on September 18 and September 24, 2019. As a result, taking into account the actual conditions of meal provision at each facility, it has been decided to set the monthly fee at 6,000 yen while ensuring the quality of meals through the ingenuity and efforts of each nursery.
In this re-negotiation, we reconfirmed the basic idea regarding the free provision of early childhood education and childcare, which is to make the childcare fees for the three years before school free based on national standards.
In addition, it has been confirmed that the cost of school lunch ingredients is an expense incurred even when parenting at home, that the school lunch for compulsory education, which has free tuition, and meals at other social welfare facilities are also self-funded, that the cost of school lunch ingredients for users in the 2-year-old class and below is included in the childcare fees regardless of the free provision, and that the food expenses for users of kindergartens and non-licensed childcare facilities are generally self-funded. Furthermore, in response to citizens' requests and as a measure against waiting children, efforts are being made to establish new Licensed Childcare Centers and certified children's gardens, to authorize certified childcare centers, and to expand the number of children accepted through flexibility in existing facilities. Various parenting support measures, such as After-School Childcare Programs and After-School Children's Programs, are also being implemented. Considering the current situation, including the lack of financial resources to allocate to new school lunch ingredient costs, it has been confirmed that, from the perspective of overall fairness, the cost of school lunch ingredients for children in the 3-year-old class and above using Licensed Childcare Centers and certified children's gardens will also generally be self-funded.
In addition, school lunches will be provided at each Nursery School and other facilities, so the cost of school lunch ingredients will need to be paid directly to each facility. (Please note that in the case of bank transfer, the fees will generally be borne by the individual.)
Please note that information regarding payment methods will be provided by each facility.
