Regarding the Pedestrian Crossing in Front of Yaoko Minamiyama Store in Inagi

A traffic signal is needed at the pedestrian crossing in front of Yaoko Minamiyama Store in Inagi.
Especially for Older Adults, many cars accelerate even when they have not yet fully crossed the pedestrian crossing, even if they are jogging across.
There are many cars that do not stop or are speeding, which is always worrisome.
There is also a park nearby, and it is dangerous for children. We ask the city to please conduct an investigation.

Response

The installation of traffic signals is carried out by the Metropolitan Police Department, which is the traffic authority. The city has anticipated the danger at this location and, since the beginning of the Land Readjustment Project, the mayor himself has continuously made direct requests to the Tama Central Police Station. Unfortunately, the city’s requests have not been accepted so far. We will continue to make requests going forward.
As a safety measure at the relevant location, the city has implemented the installation of post cones near the crosswalk in front of Minamiyama Yaoko, outer lane markings, colored pavement on the road surface, and cautionary signboards, among other measures, to ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing and to control vehicle speeds.
