About the Dog Run

It is unfortunate that although Inagi City has several large and splendid parks, there are no dog runs.
While surrounding areas such as Tama City, Machida City, and Chofu City have dog runs, Inagi City does not.
The number of households with dogs is increasing. I believe that increasing dog runs and pet-friendly environments even a little will make the city more livable.

Response

Regarding the requested dog run, we recognize that in recent years, due to the increase in households owning dogs and the growing awareness of coexistence with pets, the demand from citizens has been rising.
The city has been considering the installation of a dog run since 2014, and in 2017 and 2018, conducted a "trial dog run" at Shiroyama Park in Koyodai, seeking understanding from the local community toward permanent establishment; however, due to safety concerns, management methods, and location conditions, unfortunately, consensus could not be reached.
On the other hand, in 2015, the city established the "Study Group on the Future of Parks and Green Spaces within the Minamiyama Eastern Land Readjustment Project Area" and, together with citizen representatives and the Minamiyama Eastern Land Readjustment Association, proceeded with discussions on the future of parks and green spaces in the area. Taking into account the challenges of establishing a dog run in Shiroyama Park, the basic plan formulated in June 2023 sets the policy to install a dog run in the (tentatively named) Okubatayato Park.
Therefore, based on this policy, the city will establish a study group involving citizens and others for park development and will proceed with concrete discussions toward the installation of a dog run in conjunction with the development of the (provisional name) Okubatayato Park.
