Regarding the Construction of Tateyato Bridge
Regarding the construction work, I am very concerned about the two people standing with signs hanging from their necks. In this heat, without even chairs provided, having to stand all the time poses a high risk of heatstroke, even for a short period. They are wearing signs around their necks, but wouldn't it be better to have larger signs placed somewhere instead? If there were large warning marks and clear messages like "No Passage," I think anyone would understand easily. At night, using fluorescent lights to make it visible would help people immediately realize that passage is blocked. If it's absolutely necessary for safety reasons, at least chairs and drinks should be provided urgently. I appreciate that the construction is being done to improve the city. However, I feel worried and saddened every day when I pass by. I would be grateful if you could consider this matter.
Response
Regarding the construction of Tateyato Bridge, since it is being carried out by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as part of the four-lane expansion of the Minami-Tama Ridge Line, we have conveyed your request to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and confirmed the status of the traffic guides.
In Tokyo, as a result of consultations with the Metropolitan Police Department, the traffic manager, regarding the implementation of construction work, the Metropolitan Police Department instructed that, due to the closure of part of the sidewalk on the Tateyato Bridge side of Koyodai Park Street associated with the construction, traffic guides be stationed 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of pedestrians and others. Currently, two personnel are assigned for this purpose.
However, regarding the closure of the sidewalk, since it is necessary to continue until the completion of this construction in March of Reiwa 8, after further consultation with the Metropolitan Police Department, we have been informed by Tokyo Metropolitan Government that the existing pedestrian crossing will be removed, and traffic guides will be discontinued around late October of Reiwa 7.
Additionally, as a heatstroke prevention measure for traffic guides, air-conditioned rest areas have been set up, and they take turns every hour to take frequent breaks.
Thank you very much for your concern regarding the traffic guides stationed due to the construction of the Tateyato Ohashi Bridge.
