About the Installation of Convex Mirrors
The T-junction in front of Keanu Garden in Minamiyama is hard to see because it is also curved, so we would like a convex mirror to be installed.
Response
The intersection you requested was also subject to similar requests during the joint school route inspection conducted this fiscal year. Upon on-site confirmation, the intersection had corner cuts, and visibility to the left and right was secured.
Regarding the installation of convex mirrors, there are blind spots that are not reflected on the mirror surface. Pedestrians, especially small children, can easily enter these blind spots. If safety is confirmed only by the mirror, approaching vehicles can be seen from before the intersection, which may lead to insufficient deceleration and the risk of traffic accidents with pedestrians in the blind spots. Therefore, as a general rule, convex mirrors are not installed on school routes.
When driving through intersections or corners with poor visibility, it is necessary to proceed at a speed that allows you to stop immediately and confirm safety by visual observation. Therefore, we will consider installing post cones or caution signs to suppress speed.
