About Parks in the Minamiyama Area

We would like a park where children can play ball to be promptly created in the area at the elevation of the main entrance of Proud City in the Minamiyama district.
Playing on roads in front of houses with little traffic or in small vacant lots is dangerous and can lead to neighborhood troubles. Of course, children should be guided not to play in such places, but the reality is that they end up giving up playing outside altogether. It is often said that today's children are so absorbed in games and social media that they hardly play outside at all, but there is no doubt that a major factor creating this situation is the lack of nearby parks where they can play freely and energetically.

There is still a large piece of land remaining near the main entrance of Proud City. Please create a park as soon as possible. If it takes too long, the children of Minamiyama Elementary School will miss the opportunity to play freely and will become a generation that does not need a park.

Response

Within the Land Readjustment Project area being advanced by the Minamiyama East Land Readjustment Association, seven parks are planned; however, there are no plans to develop a park in the requested area.
Therefore, last year, the city installed playground equipment and developed a flat area for ball games in the northern part of Okubatadani Park (west side of Yaoko), and temporarily opened it to the public.
As you pointed out, we recognize that there are currently few places to play within the district. However, regarding other parks, some are not yet developed due to the progress of construction work or are being used as parking lots for construction vehicles, making it difficult to improve them at this time. We will continue to coordinate between the city and the association to make these areas available to the community as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
