About Plastic Waste Collection

Since we started separating plastic waste, household garbage has become mostly plastic, and combustible waste has decreased.
Therefore, it would be helpful if the collection of plastic waste could be done twice a week.

Regarding the separation of plastic waste, thanks to the cooperation of the citizens, approximately 851 tons of plastic waste were collected in fiscal 2023, and about 935 tons in fiscal 2024, enabling significant waste reduction and recycling.
Regarding the proposal to increase the frequency of plastic waste collection, recycling plastic waste requires a large amount of expenses. Looking at the fiscal 2024 settlement, about 500 million yen was spent on plastic waste-related expenditures, and increasing the collection frequency from once to twice would simply double the cost. Therefore, we intend to maintain the current situation for the time being.
In the future, once the progress of the collection volumes of plastic garbage, Burnable Garbage, and non-burnable garbage, as well as urban infrastructure development, has settled, we will comprehensively consider the optimal garbage collection routes and other factors, while seeking opinions from the Inagi City Waste Reduction Promotion Council.
