About Tamagawa Green Park Softball Field
Thank you always for allowing us to use the Tamagawa Green Park Softball Field.
I belong to a team in the Inagi City Softball Federation.
We participate in the Inagi City tournaments in spring and autumn, and regularly use the softball field for practice.
I feel that there are many aspects of the current condition of the softball field that the Mayor of Inagi City is not fully aware of.
For example, while the tennis courts in Inagi City are well maintained, the condition of the softball field is extremely poor, so I hope you will consider making improvements.
・Both Field A and Field B have backnets full of holes. There are many places where the boundary with the ground is not closed, rendering them non-functional.
・The net height is absolutely insufficient, causing foul balls to hit children playing in the adjacent youth baseball field and people behind the backnet (such as small children and parents). Last year, a child was taken away by ambulance.
・Especially on field B, the dirt area of the infield has not been maintained at all, and the grass has encroached. Honestly, the management condition makes it difficult to hold competitions. As a Public Facilities of Inagi City that is normally rented out, we cannot help but have doubts.
Response
Regarding the tennis courts you pointed out, they are paid facilities, whereas the Tamagawa Green Park Softball Field is a free facility with a limited budget available for maintenance costs. Therefore, at this time, we consider it difficult to install higher backstops as you suggested or to make fundamental improvements to Softball Field B.
On the other hand, regarding the holes in the backnet and the warning about foul balls, we will instruct the designated manager to take measures to ensure the safety of facility users and park users in the surrounding area. Additionally, we will also instruct them to pay attention to the maintenance of Softball Field B during routine upkeep.
