Subsidy for Wig and Prosthetic Device Purchase Costs for Cancer Patients

Currently, 1 in 9 people are undergoing treatment for cancer. Many people lose their hair due to chemotherapy and have to purchase wigs.
There are municipalities and wards that offer subsidies, and I would like Inagi City to consider implementing them as well. Additionally, I hope you will also consider subsidies for the purchase of assistive devices.

Response

I understand that there are municipalities that provide subsidies for the purchase of wigs and breast prostheses to care for changes in appearance due to treatment for cancer patients. However, our city prioritizes issues to address within a limited budget and implements various projects. In terms of cancer measures, we are working to expand the system for providing screenings to facilitate early detection and early treatment.
From fiscal year 2025, the number of medical institutions where lung cancer screenings can be received will be expanded from the current one to four. Additionally, from fiscal year 2026, stomach cancer screenings will transition from the traditional barium test to endoscopic examination. With the cooperation of the medical association, we aim to enhance the screening system and prioritize efforts to reduce the number of deaths caused by cancer.
Regarding the subsidy for the purchase of prosthetic devices for cancer patients, we will conduct research on necessary support measures based on the trends of neighboring cities and the needs of our citizens.
