Subsidies for School Lunch Fees at Private Elementary and Junior High Schools

School Lunch has become free at public Elementary and Junior High Schools.
We would like subsidies to be provided similarly for private Elementary and Junior High Schools as well.
There are places in other wards and cities that also provide subsidies.

Response

Regarding School Lunch, based on the School Lunch Act, it is implemented not only to provide meals but also as part of education aiming to foster a correct understanding of food and appropriate judgment skills.
In Inagi City, subsidies for the cost of ingredients for School Lunch are provided at municipal Elementary and Junior High Schools established by the city as part of education; however, regarding subsidies equivalent to School Lunch fees for private schools established by school corporations, since the primary purpose would be monetary payment, there are currently no plans to implement such subsidies.
We will continue to closely monitor the situations in other cities and social trends.
