Tokyo Metropolis, the special wards, and 26 cities and 2 towns have generally selected priority routes to be developed approximately every 10 years, and have been working on the planned and efficient development of urban planning roads.

Currently, road development is being promoted based on the "Policy for the Development of Urban Planning Roads in Tokyo (Fourth Project Plan)" formulated in March 2016. However, since the planning period ends at the end of fiscal year 2025, we are proceeding with considerations for the formulation of a new "Policy for the Development of Urban Planning Roads in Tokyo (provisional name)."

This time, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, special wards, 26 cities, and 2 towns have collaborated to compile the "Interim Summary of the Urban Planning Road Development Policy in Tokyo (provisional name)," taking into account changes in socio-economic conditions and the diversification of needs for roads.

Going forward, we will take into account your opinions and suggestions regarding the interim summary, continue further examination, and formulate the "Policy for the Development of Urban Planning Roads in Tokyo (provisional name)".

  2. "Basic Philosophy" and "Basic Goals" of Road Maintenance
