Last year, due to the actions of city employees, two cases of bank transfer fraud were prevented. For this, we received letters of appreciation addressed to the city employees and Inagi City Hall from the Deputy Commissioner General of the Metropolitan Police Department.
One case involved a citizen contacting the city after receiving a phone call demanding a bank transfer. The city issued a warning not to make the transfer, coordinated with the police, and successfully prevented a remittance fraud attempt.
Another case involved receiving a notification from the Tama Central Police Station that phone scams were occurring frequently in the Hirao area. City staff visited unmanned ATMs in Hirao to warn citizens, successfully preventing the phone scams in advance.
The city will continue to work on crime prevention activities, including measures against special fraud such as remittance scams, aiming to create a safe and secure community.
