The provision of the 'Automatic Call Recording Device' will be discontinued.

The city has been implementing a program to provide automatic call recording devices, primarily targeting citizens aged 65 and older, as a measure against special fraud.
This recording device is designed to play a warning message to the caller (the perpetrator) before the phone rings, with the expectation that the caller (the perpetrator) will abandon the call, thereby preventing potential harm. Its installation has been recommended.
However, despite the warning message indicating that the recording device is functioning normally and recording the conversation, there have been reports of continued fraudulent calls. Therefore, due to the challenges of using the recording device as it is, we will suspend the provision of automatic call recording devices.
The city will continue to promote measures against special fraud in various ways.
Currently, those who have been provided with automatic call recording devices can continue to use them, but please do not rely solely on the recording device. It is recommended to use other measures such as caller ID and number request, and to keep the following precautions in mind. If you receive a suspicious call, please report it immediately by dialing 110.
To Avoid Falling Victim to Fraud
The damage from 'Ore Ore' scams is increasing!
Among the 9 reported cases of damage from January to September of Reiwa 6, 5 cases are "Ore Ore Scams." An "Ore Ore Scam" is a type of fraud where the perpetrator pretends to be a family member and calls, exploiting the worried feelings of parents to trick them into handing over cash.
Be cautious of phone calls claiming to be from your children or grandchildren, stating that they urgently need money due to work-related troubles.
If money is mentioned over the phone, promise to hang up and consult your family immediately.
To block phone calls from the Ore Ore scam
- Always set to voicemail
- Decide on a family password in advance
- Do not disclose personal information or PINs
- Call back the original number of the family member who called you to confirm.
Actively utilize "Number Display" and "Number Request"!
