Inagi City is the hometown of Kunio Okawara, a renowned mechanic designer.
This project aims to create an attractive and vibrant city by installing works that evoke Kunio Okawara's designs within Inagi City and holding events.
By promoting this project, we will enhance the appeal of Inagi City, leading to regional revitalization, promotion of tourism businesses, an increase in residents, and more.

Mecha Design Contest

This is a contest to solicit original mechanical designs based on a theme. It started in Fiscal Year 2023 as a follow-up event to the "Mechanical Designers Summit," which was held a total of 10 times until Fiscal Year 2022.
The third session of fiscal year 2025 is currently underway.

Main Initiatives So Far

1 Tourism Promotion Base and Monuments

In April 2016, the "Inagi Communication Base Pair Terrace" opened under the elevated tracks of the JR Nambu Line Inagi-Naganuma Station as a hub to promote the charm of Inagi. In addition to revitalization in collaboration with nearby shopping districts, it provides tourist information about Inagi, sells local specialties, and features a café space where you can enjoy light meals made with local ingredients.
In addition, as part of the project, a monument of approximately 3.6m tall "Gundam" and "Char's Zaku" is installed in front of the facility, and a monument of "Yatterman" is installed in front of Minami-Tama Station on the JR Nambu Line.
In addition, design plates (14 pieces) of "Yatterman" and "Scopedog" have also been installed on the fall prevention fence of the "Shinbori" irrigation canal on the south side of Inagi-Naganuma Station on the JR Nambu Line.

2. Production of the Main Visual (From Fiscal Year 2015 to Fiscal Year 2017)

As part of the project, we have commissioned Mr. Kunio Okawara to design the main key visual featuring a backdrop of the city.
In fiscal year 2015, Inagi-Naganuma Station on the JR Nambu Line, in fiscal year 2016, Yanokuchi Station on the JR Nambu Line, and in fiscal year 2017, Yomiuri Land are depicted as backgrounds. They are displayed in the city hall and at the Inagi Communication Base Pair Terrace.

3. Mecha Designers Summit (Held from Fiscal Year 2012 to Fiscal Year 2022)

As a leading mechanical designer in the animation industry, Mr. Kunio Okawara, a resident of Inagi City, has hosted events where guests from various genres and generations are invited to discuss themes of "design" and "manufacturing" under the overarching theme of "creation" based on current topics and his interests.
