In Inagi City, as part of the "Mechanical Designer Kunio Okawara Project," five types of designed manhole covers have been created featuring "Gundam" from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam," "Magnum Ace" from "Shippu! Iron Leaguer," "Yatterwan" from "Yatterman," "Scopedog" from "Armored Trooper Votoms," and "Inagi Nashinosuke," the city’s official image character.
These designed manhole covers are utilized as tourism resources, and by combining them with monuments and other items created in this project so far, we aim to enhance the circulation within the city, promote the attraction of tourists, and revitalize the local community.
The currently installed designed manhole covers were produced with the grant from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s FY2019 Design Manhole Cover Installation and Utilization Promotion Project Subsidy.
