Introduction to the movie "THE LEGACY OF THE SUN"
The novel "THE LEGACY OF THE SUN," set at the Tama Army Arsenal in Tama City (currently the Tama Service Auxiliary Facility), was adapted into a movie and released nationwide starting August 2011.
This work was written by the original author Jiro Asada while he was living in Inagi City. The fictional Musashi Kodama City appearing in the story is modeled after Inagi City. Additionally, many landscapes reminiscent of Inagi City also appear.

Story
August 10, 1945, near the end of the war.
Major Mashiba of the Imperial Army (Masato Sakai) is summoned by Army Minister Anami and other top military leaders, entrusted with a critical secret mission.
Secretly transport and hide the 90 billion yen (equivalent to about 200 trillion yen in today's currency) treasure of General MacArthur, seized by General Yamashita, to the army factory.
That treasure was military funds entrusted by Anan and others, who realized the defeat, for the reconstruction of the homeland.
Mashiba, together with Lieutenant Koizumi (Seiji Fukushi) and Sergeant Major Mochizuki (Shido Nakamura), carries out a top-secret mission.
Twenty young girls are summoned as labor mobilization.
For the sake of the country, they unknowingly assist in hiding the treasure, but as the end of the mission approaches, the higher-ups issue them a ruthless order.
What will be the fate of the girls? And where will the treasure end up?
