[Yomiuri Giants] Baseball Team Members Skill Improvement Training Conducted
What is Skill Improvement Training?
The Yomiuri Giants, whose hometown is Inagi City, are conducting a skill improvement program for baseball team members through Giants Academy coaches as support for club activities at city junior high schools struggling with a shortage of instructors.
By sharing the development and coaching know-how cultivated by the team with junior high school students and their instructors in Inagi City, we aim to create appeal and revitalize the city as a sports town.
What is the content of the program?
The junior high schools in the city were divided into Group A and Group B, and each group received three practice sessions covering everything from basics to advanced techniques. As a culmination, a match-style program was held for the fourth session.
The game was held at Giants Town Stadium, which professional players actually use. Names were displayed on the screen just like in official matches, and in-stadium announcements were made by an announcer. The rules were a 6-inning format with a maximum game time of 90 minutes, starting with a count of 0 balls and 1 strike, and unlimited player substitutions were allowed.
Adjustments were made so that everyone could participate in the game as equally as possible, making it a very valuable experience where all participants could enjoy an atmosphere just like the real event.
We played a game at G Town!
On February 7, 2026, the 4th session, all the baseball clubs from the city’s junior high schools gathered to participate in a game-style program. Although snow was falling and the temperature was cold that day, the event was held safely, and the Giants gave wonderful gifts to the participating students.
