Asbestos is a natural mineral fiber also known as seki-men or ishi-wata. It is mainly used as a construction material, and its forms include sprayed asbestos and asbestos molded boards.
The asbestos sprayed on walls and ceilings indoors requires caution. Sprayed asbestos tends to disperse easily during demolition or as it deteriorates over time.
Asbestos molded boards are fixed with cement and other materials, so unless they are cut or damaged, the possibility of asbestos fibers dispersing into the air is low, and there is no concern for health hazards.
Asbestos material itself is not toxic, but inhaling asbestos fibers dispersed during building demolition or renovation is considered a cause of health hazards.
The consultation desk for asbestos is as follows.
