Mt. Fuji Eruption Ashfall Countermeasures
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government established the "Mt. Fuji Eruption Ashfall Countermeasures Review Committee," composed of relevant bureaus and experts, in May 2023 to implement measures in case ashfall occurs within the city during a large-scale eruption.
At this review committee, efforts were made to examine initiatives such as road clearance, volcanic ash disposal, and information dissemination to residents, aimed at maintaining urban activities and protecting the lives of residents. The "Large-Scale Eruption Ashfall Response Guidelines," which summarize the direction of measures to be taken by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, were formulated in December 2023.
