Special Products of Inagi City: Grapes
Takaos Grapes of Inagi
In addition to pears, the grape variety "Takao" is also popular as a specialty product of Inagi.
This variety, named after the famous mountain "Takao" in Tokyo, is a large seedless grape with "Kyoho" as its parent, characterized by its rugby ball-shaped berries.
The harvest season is from late August. It is loved as a representative flavor of Inagi, along with pears, for its high sugar content, good taste and aroma, and ease of eating.

[Request] Regarding Street Parking
Many direct sales outlets will open from August to October, which is the harvest season for pears and grapes in the city.
Many people, including those from outside the city, are visiting, but there has been a significant increase in street parking by those arriving by car.
Parking on the street not only causes traffic congestion and obstructs emergency vehicles, but also hinders the passage of pedestrians and others, leading to traffic accidents.
When visiting the direct sales office, please use public transportation as much as possible. If you come by car, we kindly ask you to park in coin parking and be considerate of the nearby residents.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that as many people as possible receive Inagi City's specialty products.
History of Grape Cultivation in Inagi City
The grape variety "Takao" was developed in the 1950s at the Tokyo Agricultural Experiment Station in Tachikawa City. Although the quality is excellent, it has not been widely adopted due to the difficulty of cultivation management.
However, in Inagi City, farmers who fell in love with this grape began cultivation around 1973 to 1974. In 1976, the "Inagi City Takao Grape Research Association" was established. Through trial and error, it gradually got on track, and now Inagi's "Takao" has established itself as a brand of gift grapes.
