Would you like to think about biodiversity?

May 22nd every year is the International Day for Biological Diversity established by the United Nations.

There are said to be 30 million species of diverse living creatures on Earth.
From creatures as large as elephants to those as small as bacteria, various living beings exist, connected to and supporting each other in life.
There are various environments where living creatures reside, and within these, a wide variety of organisms connect and influence each other, nurturing life with rich individuality. This is called "biodiversity".
Our lives are supported by the blessings that living things provide in various forms, such as food, clothing, and drinking water.
Let's think about what each of us can do to protect all irreplaceable lives and continue to receive their blessings, focusing on biodiversity.

MY Action Declaration

Our city is a member of the Biodiversity Neighborhood Association Network.
The Biodiversity Neighborhood Association Network collaborates with the "2030 Biodiversity Framework Realization Japan Conference" to engage in activities aimed at realizing a society that coexists with nature, including cooperation among municipalities and efforts related to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
The "2030 Biodiversity Framework Realization Japan Conference" website introduces the "MY Action Declaration," an awareness-raising tool aimed at declaring and encouraging actions that we can take to protect biodiversity and inherit its blessings.

MY Action Declaration: 5 Actions

1. Let's eat

Eat locally sourced foods and enjoy seasonal flavors.

2. Let's interact

Go out into nature and visit places like zoos, aquariums, and botanical gardens to experience nature and living creatures.

3. Let's communicate

Feel the beauty of nature and the changing seasons, and express it through photos, paintings, writings, and more.

4. Let's Protect

To protect the "connections" with living creatures, nature, people, and culture, we participate in local and nationwide activities.

5. Let's Choose

Choose environmentally friendly products with eco-labels and buy them.
