September 23 is Sign Language Day
On June 25, 2025, the "Act on the Promotion of Policies Concerning Sign Language" was enacted, and September 23 was designated as "Sign Language Day."
Sign language is an important means of communication as the primary language for people with hearing impairments. Since hearing impairments are not easily visible, there are various difficulties in daily life. The city provides sign language interpreter dispatch services for those who need sign language interpretation, and from FY2026, has also started a "Remote Sign Language Interpretation Service" using smartphones and other devices. We ask for your understanding of sign language and hearing impairments.
