In Inagi City, we provide subsidies for infertility treatment costs that are not covered by medical insurance for women under the age of 45 at the start of treatment (no limit on the number of times).

1. Eligible Applicants (Those who meet all of the following requirements)

  1. From the start date of treatment to the end date of treatment, both spouses must have their Certificate of Residence within Inagi City (including common-law marriages)
  2. Those who have been diagnosed by a doctor as having no prospects of pregnancy or very little chance with treatments other than in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
  3. Those whose treatment start date is on or after April 1, 2022, and whose age on the first day of the start date is under 45 years old

Please note that assistance for the costs related to infertility treatment cannot be provided in the following cases.

  1. In the case of infertility treatment using sperm, eggs, and embryos provided by third parties other than couples (including common-law marriages)
  2. In the case of infertility treatment by a surrogate mother
  3. In the case of infertility treatment using a surrogate mother
  4. In the case of receiving infertility treatment by methods not covered by "health insurance" and "advanced medical care" (regardless of whether health insurance applies)

2. Eligible Treatments and Grant Amounts

Assistance will be provided for a series of infertility treatments that fall under either (1) or (2) below, which are covered by health insurance and include advanced medical treatments such as (in vitro fertilization) and (intracytoplasmic sperm injection).

(1) Advanced medical care (not covered by health insurance) used in conjunction with medical insurance applicable treatments

For those who fall under the applicable age and number of subsidies (Note 1) for medical insurance coverage for infertility treatment, a subsidy of up to 30,000 yen per instance (Note 2) will be provided when receiving "advanced medical care (not covered by medical insurance)" (if the advanced medical expenses are less than 30,000 yen, the subsidy will be up to that amount).

  • (Note 1) Medical insurance coverage allows for up to 6 treatments per child if the woman's age at the start of treatment is under 40 years, and up to 3 treatments per child if the woman's age is between 40 and under 43 years.
  • (Note 2) The counting method for one time is based on the Tokyo Metropolitan Specific Infertility Treatment Cost (Advanced Medical Care) Subsidy Program (only (1)).

(2) [Private Medical Treatment] (Unlimited Sessions, Under 45 Years Old)

For those who exceed the age and frequency limits for infertility treatment covered by health insurance mentioned above (1), a subsidy of up to 30,000 yen per session will be provided for "self-funded medical treatment" and "advanced medical care (if implemented)" (unlimited number of times).

  • Note: A series of infertility treatments refers to the process of infertility treatment from "egg retrieval" or "thawing of embryos for frozen embryo transfer" to "confirmation of pregnancy" and so on.
  • Note: You cannot apply for the above (1) and (2) simultaneously for a single treatment.

Note: Application Forms 1 to 4 are distributed at the Parent and Child Comprehensive Support Center or can be downloaded from below. Additionally, when applying by mail, please enclose the document submission checklist (for advanced medical infertility treatment medical expenses, etc.).

6. Tokyo Specific Infertility Treatment Expenses (Advanced Medical Care) Subsidy

This is the page for Tokyo Metropolitan Government's subsidy for specific infertility treatment costs (advanced medical care). Those who wish to receive subsidies for the advanced medical care portion combined with treatments covered by medical insurance are requested to apply to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government first. After applying, once you receive the approval decision notice from Tokyo Metropolitan Government, please apply for the specific infertility treatment cost subsidy from Inagi City.
