This is an introductory course that systematically studies Chinese culture from the perspective of "characters and language." For Japanese people living in the Chinese character cultural sphere, Chinese characters and language are familiar, yet opportunities to explore the history, culture, and daily life behind them are not necessarily abundant. In this course, participants will engage with cursive script, the reading and appreciation of Chinese poetry, the expressive culture of Peking Opera as a performing art, as well as Chinese history, customs, traditions, and everyday life. The final session will deepen learning through dialogue between the instructor and participants.
