The Inagi City Fire Department held a sign language course for staff on Saturday, July 18, 2020.
The DVD teaching materials used in this course were created by members of the Inagi City Association of the Hearing Impaired. Due to the inability to hold sign language classes with instructors dispatched because of the spread of COVID-19, they edited videos that clearly explain commonly used words at emergency sites. Firefighters, rescue team members, and emergency medical technicians learned sign language that includes not only the signs for words but also facial expressions and body movements to facilitate communication at disaster sites.

In the future, we will continue to strive to improve our communication skills and work together as a united team to create a town where people can live kindly and safely.
