National Fire Prevention Slogan: “Check for fire hazards—a good habit that supports a good day.”

This initiative aims to further promote fire prevention awareness as we approach the time of year when fires are more likely to occur, thereby preventing the occurrence of fires, reducing the number of fatalities, particularly among Older Adults, and protecting precious lives and valuable property from loss.

In several fires in Inagi City, the absence of residential fire alarms delayed initial firefighting efforts, allowing the damage to spread. Install and properly maintain residential fire alarms to detect fires early and protect your family's lives and property!

10 Points to Protect Your Life from Residential Fires

Four Habits

  1. Absolutely do not smoke in bed, and do not allow it
  2. Do not place flammable items around the stove
  3. Do not leave the fire unattended when using the stove
  4. Clean the outlet of dust and unplug unnecessary plugs

Six Measures

  1. To prevent the occurrence of fires, use appliances such as stoves and burners that are equipped with safety devices.
  2. To ensure early detection of fires, regularly check residential smoke alarms and replace them approximately every 10 years.
  3. To prevent the spread of fire, keep the room organized and use flame-retardant bedding, clothing, and curtains.
  4. Install fire extinguishers and other equipment to extinguish fires while they are small, and confirm how to use them.
  5. Elderly people and those with physical disabilities should always secure and prepare evacuation routes and methods.
  6. Participate in fire prevention and disaster training, and conduct door-to-door visits to implement community-wide fire prevention measures.

In recent years, fires caused by rechargeable batteries, such as lithium-ion batteries, have been increasing. Purchase products bearing the PSE mark or similar certification, follow the instruction manual when using them, and stop using them if you notice abnormalities such as battery swelling.

More than half of fires caused by earthquakes are due to electricity. Since seismic breakers are effective for preventing electrical fires, consider installing a seismic breaker to prepare for a major earthquake.
