The event was held in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture in FY2025.

[Shogi Town Inagi]

When Yasumitsu Sato, 9-dan, a resident of Inagi City, was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2017, we sent a congratulatory telegram and deepened our friendship when he paid a courtesy visit to City Hall in return.

Since then, with the great cooperation of 9-dan Sato, we have been holding the "Children's Shogi Event" as part of the Inagi City Cultural Festival starting from FY2017. Additionally, we have been fostering the momentum of "Shogi Town Inagi" by regularly conducting shogi classes in the After-School Children's Program.

Shogi, a traditional Japanese culture and an intellectual sport that nurtures thinking skills and courtesy.

Various municipalities nationwide are working on creating “Shogi Towns” to leverage its appeal for community development.

Famous professional shogi players' hometowns, towns where professional players live, venues for title matches, places known for making shogi equipment, and other municipalities across the country promoting shogi gather to discuss the practice of Community Development through shogi and its future prospects.
