From October 2026, "Bed Mattress (Pocket Coil Type)" will be added to the list of bulky waste items

Regarding 'pocket coil spring mattresses' that cannot be disposed of at the incineration facilities of the Tamagawa Sanitation Union, the volume in circulation has increased in recent years, and the number of disposals in the city is also showing an upward trend.

The city has been collecting pocket coil spring mattresses as bulky waste under the same category as the existing "bed mattresses" (1,200 yen per piece) to enhance convenience for citizens.
However, when outsourcing the crushing process to a treatment contractor outside the city, it costs about 20,000 yen per mattress, creating a large gap with the bulky waste fee and putting pressure on the city’s finances.
Therefore, after careful consideration, we have decided to newly add "Bed Mattress (Pocket Coil Type)" as a bulky waste item and require those disposing of it to bear an appropriate bulky waste disposal fee.

We kindly ask for the understanding and cooperation of all citizens.

• Bulky waste fee: 9,800 yen (Please attach four 2,400 yen disposal tickets currently on sale)
• Date added: From October 1, 2026, for accepted items
