Please help prevent machinery problems at waste processing facilities

Recently, a large amount of net-like material became tangled in a machine that tears open garbage bags at a plastic waste processing facility's sorting line. The machine had to be shut down for approximately two hours while the material was removed.
Even if the material itself can be disposed of as household waste, net-like or long items placed in garbage bags without being cut can become tangled in processing machinery, causing serious problems such as equipment breakdowns or shutdowns.
To ensure uninterrupted waste processing, we ask all residents to cooperate by disposing of their waste properly.

Examples of net-like and long items requiring special attention

  • Netting (garden netting, bird netting, sports nets, etc.)
  • String and rope (packing rope, thick string, etc.)
  • Cords (extension cords, charger cords, etc.)
  • Hoses (garden hoses, etc.)
  • Other items (blue tarps, sheet-type cushioning materials, etc.)

Rules for proper disposal

In Inagi City, items placed in designated collection bags must be less than 50 cm in size.
When disposing of the items listed above, please use one of the following methods.

(1) Cut into pieces less than 50 cm long and place them in a designated collection bag
To prevent items from becoming tangled in the machinery, be sure to cut them into pieces less than 50 cm long before placing them in the bag.

(2) If cutting is difficult, dispose of the item as bulky waste
Items with any side measuring 50 cm or more are classified as bulky waste (a fee applies and advance booking is required).
Never put these items out for collection without cutting them.

Each resident's care and attention helps ensure the safe and smooth operation of our waste processing facilities.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in protecting these important waste processing facilities.
