What is an Earthquake Automatic Unlocking Box?

The earthquake automatic unlocking box is a storage box that automatically unlocks when it detects shaking above a set intensity. It is designed to store keys to evacuation shelters and allows local disaster prevention organizations and community members to open evacuation shelters in the event of a major earthquake.

There are 25 locations within Inagi City, including public schools, the Cultural Center, the Fureindo Hirao complex facility, and the Comprehensive Gymnasium, where they are installed and set to unlock when a seismic intensity of lower 6 or higher is detected. In the event of a major earthquake, the box can be opened, and by using the keys and evacuation shelter setup manual stored inside, an evacuation shelter can be established.
