Demonstration Project for Emergency Services Utilizing the My Number Card (My Number Emergency)
The Inagi City Fire Department will conduct a demonstration project aimed at streamlining emergency services by, in principle, obtaining the consent of the injured or ill person and utilizing the My Number Health Insurance Card to view outpatient history, medication information, and more.
Overview
The emergency team, after obtaining consent from the patient or injured person, holds the patient's My Number Card over a card reader to connect to the online system. They view the necessary information for selecting a medical institution on a dedicated tablet device and select an appropriate medical institution based on the obtained information. In cases where consent cannot be obtained from the person, such as when they are unconscious, the necessary information may still be viewed depending on the situation to select the destination medical institution.
Main Effects
Currently, emergency medical teams primarily gather information such as the patient's medical history, previous consultations, and medications they are taking through verbal communication with the patient or their family members at the emergency scene.
However, there are many cases where it is difficult for emergency responders to collect accurate information, such as when breathing difficulties make conversation hard or when it is difficult to remember all the medications.
Therefore, by utilizing the injured or ill person's My Number Card with Health Insurance Card registration, it is expected that emergency personnel can more quickly obtain the necessary information to select the hospital for transport, which will help reduce the mental and physical burden on the patient and lead to early transport to an appropriate hospital.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is it okay to carry the My Number Card with you?
It is safe to carry your My Number Card around like a cash card. The IC chip on the My Number Card does not store highly private information such as tax, pension details, or medical history. To access the information on the IC chip, a PIN is required, and if the PIN is entered incorrectly a certain number of times, the card will become unusable.
What should I do if I lose my My Number Card?
Temporary suspension of My Number Card use due to loss or theft is accepted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Please contact the "My Number Comprehensive Toll-Free Dial (0120-95-0178)". After that, please notify your municipality and proceed with the reissuance procedure.
Is it okay if emergency personnel see my My Number?
The My Number is used by the government to identify individuals, and when using the My Number, identity verification with photo ID or other personal identification documents is required. Therefore, simply knowing the My Number does not lead to personal information leakage or misuse. Additionally, the My Number Emergency Service does not use the 12-digit My Number.
Will emergency personnel also see personal information unrelated to emergency activities?
The system used for My Number emergency services allows emergency personnel to view only the information on the card such as name and address, as well as medical information like medical history and medication details. Information unrelated to emergency activities, such as taxes and Pension, cannot be viewed.
Even in emergencies where you are taken by ambulance, do you have to enter the PIN for your My Number Card?
When implementing My Number Card emergency services, emergency personnel will verify the identity by checking the injured or ill person's face and the photo on the card, so entering the PIN of the My Number Card is generally not required.
