Chapter 2 Basic Concept of the Plan

Sports in This Plan

Not only competitive sports (sports that compete based on rules for victory, defeat, or records) and recreational activities, but also all physical activities carried out in a planned and conscious manner with the purpose of maintaining or improving health and fitness, refreshing the mind, or enjoyment are regarded as sports. These include walking, hiking, strolling, light exercise, cycling, camping and other Outdoor Activities, training for nursing care prevention, as well as physical activities in daily life such as walking or cycling for shopping, commuting to school or work, and climbing stairs.

Furthermore, not only those involving physical activity but also eSports, which realize the "value inherent in sports itself" by providing "fun" and "joy" that enrich people's lives and minds, are regarded as sports. eSports have inclusivity that can be enjoyed regardless of age, gender, or disability, and they also have characteristics that contribute to the formation of bonds and the improvement of cognitive functions.
