There have been numerous news reports of explosion accidents caused by hitting a large number of spray cans indoors with pointed hammers or similar tools to puncture them and release the gas.
Spray cans and the like are filled with flammable gas, so puncturing them or disposing of them with incorrect sorting can lead to accidents such as house or vehicle fires and machinery damage, and may cause processing facilities to shut down.
To prevent fires and protect the safety of collection workers, please check once again before putting out your garbage using the Waste and Recycling Calendar to ensure sorting is correct. Items such as "spray cans," "gas cylinders," and "lighters" should be completely used up before disposal, or if they cannot be fully used, please dispose of them without puncturing on the monthly "Hazardous Waste" collection day.
If you have any questions about sorting, please contact the Living Environment Division.
