Wide Area Issuance of Family Register Certificates

Announcements

From March 1, 2024, even those whose registered domicile is far away can request family register certificates and other documents at the nearest municipal office.
Please note that there may be a long wait until the issuance. We ask for your understanding regarding the following points in advance.

  • (Especially in cases of multiple applications such as "from birth to death"), it may take more than half a day.
  • Due to the various circumstances of the family register, we are unable to provide guidance on the time required for procedures.
  • There may be cases where not all family registers can be prepared on the same day.

Notice: Wide-area issuance is not available on holidays.

Note: The available dates and times for procedures and the identification documents to be presented differ from those for other family register-related certificates (the Application Form and application counter are the same).

Types of family register certificates that can be requested through wide-area issuance

  • Certificate of All Matters in Family Register (Family Register Copy)
  • Certificate of All Matters of Removal (Removal Transcript)
  • Certified Copy of the Original Family Register
  • Identification Code for Providing Electronic Family Register Certificates
  • Identification Code for Providing Exclusion Electronic Certificate

Notice: Personal matter certificates (extracts), family register supplements, identity certificates, etc. are not subject to wide-area issuance.

Notice: Some family registers that are not computerized cannot be requested

Eligible Individuals for Wide Area Issuance

  1. Person listed in the family register
  2. Spouse of 1
  3. Direct blood relatives of the first degree (parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, etc.)

Notice: Siblings' family registers that have been removed from the parents' family register due to marriage or other reasons cannot be requested.

Notice: The identification codes for providing electronic family register certificates and electronic removed family register certificates are free of charge when requested simultaneously with the corresponding family register certificates or removed family register certificates.

Available Procedure Dates

From 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on open days

Notice: Wide-area issuance is not available on holidays.

Notice: Issuance of family register certificates through wide-area issuance takes time. Also, in cases such as inheritance where you request family registers tracing back from birth to death, depending on the status of the family register, issuance may not be completed on the same day, and you may need to come again on the following day or later, so please allow plenty of time when you visit.

Precautions for Using Wide-Area Delivery

  • Those who can request family register certificates, etc. (see "Those who can request through wide-area issuance" above) need to visit the family register counter at the municipal office to make the request.
  • Requests cannot be made by mail or through a proxy.
  • To verify the identity of those who come to the counter, it is necessary to present an official photo ID issued by a government agency (such as a driver's license, My Number Card, passport, etc.).
