We will issue the new Inagi City original license plates!

To commemorate the 55th anniversary of the enforcement of Inagi City's municipal system, the newly created Inagi City original license plates will be issued starting Wednesday, January 13, 2027!

About the Inagi City Original Number Plate Design Contest

Regarding the design of the new plate, as part of the "Mechanical Designer Kunio Okawara Project," a contest-style public recruitment was held in June 2024, resulting in 141 applications.

As a result of the subsequent review, the work that won the grand prize was refined by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara, who created the design for the Inagi City original license plate.

About the issuance of the new number plates

Start date of issuance

Wednesday, January 13, 2027, issuance will begin.

Applicable Vehicle Types

Note: Specified Small Motorized Bicycles (commonly known as electric kickboards) are excluded from the new design plates.

Eligible Recipients

Those who meet all of the following conditions

• Those whose primary fixed location of the owned vehicle is in Inagi City
• Those who wish to exchange from the currently used Inagi City number plate or newly register a vehicle

Items required when visiting the office

Absolutely required			Driver’s license or My Number Card of the person visiting the office
Required when a person other than the owner comes to the office			Power of Attorney (When a dealer or similar person handles the procedure on behalf) In addition to the power of attorney to the dealer, a document proving that the person is a dealer
Required when already using an Inagi City plate and exchanging it			Old Number Plate Old Plate Issuance Certificate Fee (200 yen if the old plate has no illustration, 400 yen for the Nashinosuke plate)
Required when newly registering a vehicle	In case of purchase		Sales Certificate

About the pre-selection lottery for numbers

For numbers from "1" to "10" of each color, applications will be accepted in advance, and a lottery will be held to determine the winners.

Numbers not subject to the lottery will be issued in the order of procedures completed at the counter from Wednesday, January 13 onward.

About Number Pre-Draw Application

Draw Eligibility	Numbers from 1 to 10 for each plate color (4 and 9 are excluded from issuance)
Application Deadline	Until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2026 Note: If applying by mail, it must arrive by the deadline

Regarding the Lottery Results	After the application deadline, the city will conduct a lottery and notify you of the results. (If applying via form, notification will be sent by email; if by mail or in person, notification will be sent by mail)
If You Are Selected	If you are selected, please visit the office and complete the plate issuance procedure within the issuance period (weekdays from January 13 to January 20, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Please note that the number will not change depending on the day you visit the office. Note: If you do not visit the office within the issuance period after being selected, the assigned number will become invalid and will be issued to another person, so please understand this in advance.
Documents to bring and fees when visiting the office	Please check the "Items required when visiting the office" at the top of the page.
Other Notes	You cannot specify the plate number. Applications for the pre-draw from the same owner are limited to one per plate color. For example, if there are two applications for "white" from the same owner, one will be invalidated. Applications for "white" and "pink" once each are valid. The plate number will be provided at the time of issuance. Please note that we cannot respond to inquiries by phone or other means.
