About the New Standard Motorized Bicycles

　From April 1, 2025, a new category called the New Standard Motorized Bicycle (hereinafter referred to as "New Standard Moped") has been added to the existing Class 1 Motorized Bicycles (with a total displacement of 50cc or less).

　The New Standard Moped refers to motorized bicycles with a total displacement of 125cc or less and a maximum output controlled to 4.0 kW or less, and they are issued the same white license plates as motorized bicycles with a total displacement of 50cc or less.
　The same rules for licenses and traffic regulations apply as those for motorized bicycles with a total displacement of 50cc or less.

　Furthermore, the conventional Class 1 motorized bicycles (with a total displacement of 50cc or less) can continue to be registered as before. Also, there is no need to change the currently registered license plates.
