You can have the payment automatically deducted from your designated account on the due date. This saves you the trouble of going to a financial institution or convenience store to make the payment, and you don't have to worry about forgetting the due date. Please take advantage of the "convenient," "secure," and "reliable" direct debit service.

When Applying for Direct Debit

  • If you miss the application deadline or if there are any deficiencies in the content, the start of the account transfer may be delayed. In such cases, please make your payment using the payment slip until the transfer begins. If you do not have a payment slip, reissuance is possible, so please contact us.
  • Please check your account balance before the payment deadline. We do not perform re-debiting.
  • Receipts and other documents confirming the completion of account transfers will not be issued, so please check using your passbook or other means.
  • If you apply around the time the initial tax notice for the fiscal year is sent, there is a possibility that the direct debit for the first installment or the full prepayment direct debit may not be processed in time, so please apply in advance.

  • Light Vehicle Tax (Type Classification)
    All vehicles owned by the taxpayer who applied are subject. Vehicle selection is not possible.

Please note that back taxes, delinquent taxes, Municipal and Tokyo Metropolitan Resident Taxes (special collection), and corporate municipal resident taxes cannot be paid by direct debit.

Application by dedicated postcard (account transfer request form)

The dedicated postcard (account transfer request form) is available at the City Hall Collection Section, Hirao Branch Office, and Wakabadai Branch Office counters. Please fill in the required information and affix your seal (registered seal at the financial institution), then either post it in a mailbox or submit it to one of the counters (bringing it directly to the financial institution is not allowed). Also, if you request by phone, we will send the dedicated postcard to your home, so please feel free to contact the Collection Section. It is also possible to download it from the link below.

Notes for Filling Out

  • At City Hall and Branch Offices, we cannot verify account numbers or passbook registered seals, so please be careful not to make any mistakes in the entered information.
  • When correcting the registered seal for your account, please make sure that the seal impressions do not overlap.

Deadline for Dedicated Postcard Application and Transfer Date

The application deadline for fiscal year 2025 (based on the postmark date of the post office) and the transfer dates are as shown in the table below.
Please note that even if you apply within the deadline, due to incomplete or incorrect information, the direct debit may not start from your desired date. Therefore, we recommend submitting your application as early as possible.

Q1. How can I change the bank account for automatic withdrawal of Municipal Tax and National Health Insurance Tax?

A1. The procedure for changing the withdrawal account is the same as when starting account transfer. When you register a new account, the transfer from the previous account will be automatically stopped, so no separate cancellation procedure is necessary. However, if there are deficiencies in the application timing or the information provided, the account transfer from the desired date may not be processed in time. In that case, the account transfer from the previous account will continue, so please be aware of this in advance.

Q2. How can I stop the automatic bank transfer for Municipal Tax and National Health Insurance Tax?

A2. If you wish to cancel the direct debit, please contact the City Hall Collection Section, Hirao Branch Office, or Wakabadai Branch Office. Depending on the timing of your request, the process may not be completed in time, and the direct debit may not be canceled at your desired time, so please contact us at least two weeks before the transfer date.

Q3. How can I change the transfer method (by period or full period) for the automatic bank transfer of Municipal Tax and National Health Insurance Tax?

A3. If you want to change the transfer method, please contact the City Hall Revenue Section, Hirao Branch Office, or Wakabadai Branch Office. Depending on the timing of your request, the process may not be completed in time, and you may not be able to change the transfer method at your desired time, so please contact us at least two weeks before the transfer date.

Q4. I use direct debit for Property Tax, but I have changed the registered name. Can I continue to use direct debit for Property Tax?

A4. Not available. Once the direct debit procedure is completed, it will continue every year; however, if the owner changes due to inheritance or other reasons, or if the members of a shared ownership change, and the registered owner is changed, it will be necessary to apply for the direct debit procedure again.
