About the Routine Vaccination of RS Virus (Maternal and Child Immunity Vaccine) Vaccination
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is advancing discussions on making the RS virus (maternal antibody vaccine) vaccination part of the routine vaccination program.
Vaccinations administered on or after April 1, 2026, are expected to be included in the routine vaccination program.

What is RS Virus Infection?
An acute respiratory infection caused by RS virus, which is a common infection among infants and young children.
RS virus can infect repeatedly regardless of age, but the initial infection is said to be more likely to become severe. In particular, if infected within 6 months after birth, it can become severe, causing bronchiolitis or pneumonia. It is said that more than 50% of infants and young children are infected at least once by the age of 1, and almost 100% by the age of 2.
About the Effectiveness of the Vaccine
By receiving the RSV vaccine during pregnancy, antibodies are transferred to the baby through the placenta, which is expected to prevent severe RSV infection until the baby is 6 months old.
Routine Vaccination Eligible Persons (Planned)
For vaccination dates on or after April 1, 2026, pregnant women who have a Certificate of Residence in Inagi City at the time of vaccination and are between 28 weeks 0 days and 36 weeks 6 days of pregnancy
Number of Vaccinations (Planned)
You can receive one vaccination per pregnancy
