The attempt to search for life not only on Earth and within the solar system but also in the vast universe is attracting attention as a multidisciplinary science that goes beyond the framework of astronomy.
Planets that appear similar to our Earth, which is currently the only known planet with life, have been discovered relatively nearby, and a major international project primarily aimed at searching for signs of life on exoplanets has been fully launched. In response to remarkable progress in this field, we will introduce the history and latest achievements of the Astrobiology Center, established in 2015 to study "Life in the Universe."
