Oceanic islands are known to have unique ecosystems due to their isolated formation. This lecture introduces the distinctive natural features centered on biological evolution of the world’s representative oceanic islands: the Galapagos, Ogasawara, and Hawaii. It also covers various efforts to protect nature, such as invasive species control and eco-tours. Additionally, it touches on practical travel information based on the instructor’s experience.
