Regarding the revision of the livelihood protection standards implemented since 2013, the Supreme Court ruling on June 27, 2025, determined that there were errors and omissions in the process and procedures of the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare's judgment concerning deflation adjustment.

Based on this ruling, the government has established new standards, and additional benefits will be provided to cover the difference from the Public Assistance payments that were made at that time.

In Inagi City as well, preparations are underway to implement the additional benefits in accordance with the national policy.

Households Eligible for Additional Benefits

Households that meet any of the following criteria are eligible.

  1. Households that received Public Assistance between August 2013 and September 2018
  2. Households that received Public Assistance between October 2018 and March 2024 and met any of the following criteria
  • Households with members who were hospitalized or admitted to a facility
  • Households for which additional allowances subject to supplementary payments, such as disability allowances, were calculated
  • Households for which the year-end lump-sum assistance paid every December was calculated, etc.

Note: Whether you are actually eligible for additional benefits and the amount of additional benefits will vary depending on the Public Assistance receipt status and household composition at that time.

Procedures and Payment Timing

In principle, no procedure is required to receive the additional benefits.
