Applications are accepted by methods designated by the city, such as mail, in-person at the counter, or electronic application.
(2) Confirmation of Application Details and Attached Documents
The city will verify the contents of the submitted application form, identity verification documents, and documents showing the bank account for transfer.
If there are any deficiencies in the content provided or if additional verification is required, the city may contact you.
(3) Confirmation of Benefit History and Household Situation
Based on the information provided in the application form, the city will verify the benefit history during the relevant period, the household composition at that time, and the presence or absence of various allowances using the city’s Public Assistance records, etc.
If it cannot be confirmed from the records at that time alone, you may be asked to submit additional documents such as the protection decision notice, bankbook deposit history, Physical Disability Certificate, Maternal and Child Health Handbook, or family register transcript.
As a result of the verification, there may be cases where you are not eligible for additional benefits.
(4) Calculation of Additional Benefit Amount and Sending of Decision Notice
Based on the confirmed information, the additional benefit amount will be individually calculated.
If eligible, a decision notice stating the additional benefit amount and other details will be sent.
(5) Transfer to Designated Account
After sending the decision notice, the additional benefit payment will be transferred to the designated account specified in the application form.
It may take time until the transfer is made depending on the status of confirmation of the application details and the number of applications received.
Notes
- If you received Public Assistance from multiple municipalities, you may need to apply separately for each municipality where you received it.
- The amount of additional benefits varies depending on household composition, duration of receipt, and whether any additions apply.
- Those who have passed away at the time of application are not eligible.
- For plaintiffs in the lawsuit concerning the 2013 revision of the livelihood protection standards, the handling of additional protection payments and special benefits may differ from that of households whose protection has been normally discontinued. If this applies to you, please contact the person in charge.
- As a result of reviewing the application details, if the history of receiving Public Assistance during the applicable period cannot be confirmed or if the necessary documents are not submitted, you may not be eligible for additional benefits.
- To protect personal information, we may not be able to provide information about past Public Assistance receipt history or additional benefit amounts by phone alone. If necessary, you may be asked to present identification documents or submit an application form.
Please use the "Additional Benefits Consultation Center"
If you do not understand the outline of the system or where to apply, consultations are also accepted at the National Additional Benefits Consultation Center.
Reception hours: Weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00
Additionally, during the intensive awareness period from August to October, reception will also be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Q. Am I eligible?
A. Households that received Public Assistance between August 2013 and March 2024 and are not currently receiving Public Assistance may be eligible. Q. To which municipality should I apply?
A. Please apply to the municipality where you previously received Public Assistance.
Q. I have moved and my address has changed since then. Where should I apply?
A. Please make your application to the municipality where you previously received Public Assistance, not your current address. For the period during which you received Public Assistance in Inagi City, please apply to Inagi City.
Q. I received Public Assistance from multiple municipalities. How does the procedure work?
A. If you received Public Assistance from multiple municipalities, you may need to submit a request to each municipality where you received benefits. For the period you received Public Assistance in Inagi City, please contact Inagi City, and for the periods you received benefits in other municipalities, please contact the respective municipalities where you received assistance at that time.
Q. Where can I obtain the application form?

Q. I do not know the period during which I received benefits or whether any additional amounts were included. Can I still apply?
A. Even if you do not know the exact period during which you received benefits or whether any additional amounts were included, you can still apply. Please fill out the application form to the best of your knowledge. We will check the city’s records, but if the records at that time are insufficient for confirmation, you may be asked to submit additional documents such as the protection decision notice, bankbook transaction history, Physical Disability Certificate, Maternal and Child Health Handbook, or family register transcript.
Q. Can you tell me over the phone if I have received Public Assistance in the past?
A. To protect personal information, we may not be able to provide details about past Public Assistance receipt history or additional benefit amounts by phone alone. If necessary, we may ask you to present identification documents or submit an application form.
Q. How much will be paid?

After reviewing the application details and the materials held by the city, the amount will be calculated individually.
Q. Will payment definitely be made if I apply?
A. Even if you submit a request, if it is confirmed that there is no Public Assistance receipt history during the relevant period, if no additional payment amount arises, or if the necessary documents are not submitted, you may not be eligible for additional payments.
Q. If the head of the household at that time has passed away, who can submit a request?
A. If the head of the household at that time has passed away, the individuals who can apply may be limited to the spouse, children, or others who were receiving Public Assistance in the same household at that time. Since individual confirmation is necessary, please contact the person in charge.
Q. Is there a notification after the decision on the additional payment?
A. If you are eligible for the additional benefit, we will send you a decision notice stating the amount of the additional benefit. After that, the payment will be transferred to the designated account specified in the application form.
Q. Should I be cautious of suspicious phone calls or visits claiming to be about the additional benefit?
A. Neither the city nor the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will ask you to operate an ATM, request transfer fees, or ask for your account PIN. If you receive suspicious phone calls or mail, please consult the responsible department or the police.
